Product Description - Effective Job Search Skills Manual, Workshop EditionThe Effective Job Search Skills Manual, Workshop Edition has been produced to accompany the Effective Job Search Skills Workshop, offered by PGA Group Consulting Psychologists. However, the manual can be tailored or produced by the publisher for an organization to use in-house, or for use by professional firms or consultants. The Effective Job Search Skills Workshop content and duration are tailored to clients’ specific needs, objectives and budget. The workshop involves and engages participants with hands-on exercises and activities. These are based on a proven model which has brought job hunting success for many people, sometimes under difficult circumstances, often not at a time of their choosing. The Effective Job Search Skills Manual, Workshop Edition is not intended for use outside the context of a workshop or similar environment. Instead, the book, Tricky Job Interview Questions and Answers: How to Handle Interviews and Get the Job You Want, also published by PGA Group, is aimed at the individual, or for use as a stand-alone resource. The book draws from the experience of its author, psychologist Peter Gerstmann in running highly successful outplacement activities, and from the Effective Job Search Skills Manual, Workshop Edition. Tricky Job Interview Questions and Answers is stocked in many major public and university libraries around the world. The publisher, PGA Group would be pleased to discuss the provision of an Effective Job Search Skills Workshop for your organization, or on your behalf (perhaps on a sub-contractual basis). We would be pleased also to consider producing a version of the Effective Job Search Skills Manual for your own use (adapted in accordance with your communications guidelines or house style, and incorporating your logo or branding if you wish; we are highly flexible). Preface - Effective Job Search Skills Manual, Workshop EditionLosing one’s job is something which can, and increasingly will happen to large numbers of people, not just once but possibly several times during their working lives. Unemployment and redundancy are likely to become more common, not only when the economy takes a downturn, but also as the accelerating rate of innovation and change brings about changes in job definitions, and as mergers, acquisitions and takeovers create a need for restructuring within organizations. Whether wrapped in extended notice periods, ‘golden handshakes’ or dismissed at half an hour’s notice, redundancy means enforced job loss. Organizations that have a caring attitude and who are willing to direct good professional practice towards their people are willing to provide benefits beyond that required by law. Providing a Job Search Workshop is a way of helping employees understand that it is the job that has been made redundant, and not the people themselves as individuals. In fact, those individuals still possess the valuable skills necessary to find a new job. Our role is to help redirect these skills and past achievements towards the challenge of finding an even better opportunity for the future. We can help with guidance and advice about the direction an individual’s career could take or what job would suit their personality, skills and interests best. We have established a track record of helping individuals identify their needs, to make a positive career choice, and to redirect their valuable skills and past achievements towards the challenge of finding their next opportunity.
